Allison Crowe : “Going Home Tonight

The Kidney Foundation of Canada gives us another reason to remember the Fifth of November, today hanging “A Brush of Hope” on eBay .

For the next 10 days, the Foundation’s eBay gallery displays paintings by athletes, politicians, performers, journalists, and others in a collection more diverse than the crew sent out to all corners of the Earth from Atlantis (“Hail Atlantis!”) All funds raised from this art auction benefit kidney research in Canada.

Allison Crowe is delighted to be aboard, for her third voyage in aid of the Kidney Foundation’s artful campaign – aye, here be a direct link to her painting.

Fellow travellers include poet, novelist and musician, Leonard Cohen, the happiest man touring today, who’s donated a limited edition print – Parc du Portugal. Vinyl Café host and raconteur extraordinaire, Stuart McLean has paired with Amanda Walther of acoustic pop duo Dala, to paint “Which Way is Up?” Also flying under the CBC Radio flag, comedian Elvira Kurt, Q’s Curator of the Cultural Hall of Shame, envisions one giant leap for squirrelkind in oils. Helping keep things centred is Tavares – not the Cape Verdean-American soul funk brothers, but, John, the hockey player selected #1 in the 2009 NHL entry draft (by the NY Islanders). Legendary on the Rush, too, is guitarist Alex Lifeson, a perennial booster of “A Brush of Hope”.

From stern to bow, you can take in, and bid on, paintings by all of these folks and more, on eBay and join the Kidney Foundation community on facebook.

Allison Crowe is applying the final strokes to her seventh album/CD in seven years. Plenty more on this new song collection, “Spiral”, is coming (soon, Reena).

Days after album recording wraps, the singer-songwriter, loved for her peerless, and fun, live shows, launches her annual Tidings tour, with concerts in these Canadian locations:
