Amy Stroup: Other Side of Love [Session One]

Amy Stroup

Some people just know what they were created to be. Nashville based singer/songwriter Amy Stroup is one who, from her early age, has always desired to write and perform songs about the truest thing she knows…

Amy Stroup created a quite buzz and gained notoriety on National Public Radio by Garrison Keilor’s, Prairie Home Companion as she was named “Top 20 Songwriters under 30” in 2008. With a wide variety of influences ranges from Bon Iver, Johnny Cash, Lucinda Williams, to Ingrid Michaelson, Patty Griffin, Stevie Nicks or Jewel, Amy’s roots began in Boston, following her family’s involvement in Christian ministries. From Boston to Memphis, Alabama to Texas, Amy has traveled the nation in her 22 years. As a Texas teenager, the self-taught guitarist naturally entertained enthusiastic fans. Under the wide-open skies and amid the quiet places of West Texas, combining the thoughtful depth of Boston and the Alabama distinctive style, Amy’s passion for music and ministry was born and engaged audiences through catchy melodies and freshness lyrics.

On both guitar strings and piano keys, Amy’s dynamic, authentic and acoustic style seizes hearts and speaks of the refining journey of continual joy and spiritual growth, there’s something naïve in Amy’s music, the kind of naivety and freshness I had adored on Jewel’s early debut while song titled “I’m In Master” reminds Tiffany Lee’s work and soulful voice.

Amy has released 3 independent albums: Solidity (January, 2003), Here I Am (May, 2004) Chasing Greenlights (2007) and she is currently working on releasing four sessions digitally of THE OTHER SIDE OF LOVE, an original project where she will record one session every four months and will be released digitally in three to four song bundles. The Session One is available for downolad on itunes.com, cdbaby.com noisetrade.com or amazon.com. On this project, Amy partners once again with platinum selling, ACM award winning producer and friend Nathan Chapman (Taylor Swift, Stephanie Chapman, and others) to create an uplifting sound seasoned with delicately honest lyrics, pure vocals and smart instrumentation like her last and beautiful single “CHIN UP” available just right here:

Music lovers like Jewel’s fans, Shawn Colvin’s listeners or amateur Christian Music like Plumb, or even amateur of Joy Williams and Natalie Warner should definitely add Amy Stroup in their playlist.
