This is what Grammy Award Winning Songwriter/Producer Dave Merenda,(Sarah McLachlan) says about Alyson Greenfield, the recent transplanted Brooklyn singer/songwriter.

With a such compliment, no need to say more. I found Alyson Greenfield serendipitously, (as always) and was touched by her authenticity, her simplicity, Alyson could be the girl next door with her long hair and her glasses but she’s a girl who is walking in the footsteps of female powerhouses like Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, and even Sinead O’Connor—a group diverse enough to reflect Greenfield’s versatility while some of her songs remind me the freshness of Jewel’s “Save Your Soul“.

Her 2008 first full-length album entitled TUSCALOOSA, name of the town she left in Alabama and for she called it “home” showcases Greenfield’s unharnessed creativity and multi-genre performance, from minimalist piano driven alterna-rock to dreamy electronic sounds, Greenfield’s earthy, liberal lyrics hint at her literary and academic background and penchant for telling a story..

Recorded with Denise Barbarita (David Byrne, Mary J Blige, Herbie Hancock, The Roots) the album features also Jason Mercer (Ani DiFranco, Ron Sexsmith) on bass and Geoff Hug (NYC Smoke) on drums.

Alyson is quickly garnering recognition from music publications, radio podcasts, and TV networks. No doubt, Alyson Greenfield is another genius we have to survey in the next future…
